Todd McDonald is one of the seven Orange City library board members that voted unanimously on March 20 to retain in circulation a children’s book called “Morris Mickelwhite and his Tangerine Dress.” This book is about a kindergarten boy named Morris who goes to school each day after his mother paints his fingernails and sends him in a bright colored dress. At first he is not accepted but by the end of the story all the children are happy about boys who wear dresses.
According to three people who spoke with PRI about the meeting, one of the most disturbing statements was made at the end of the meeting. They describe Todd McDonald severely reprimanding the conservatives both at the current meeting and the one last month who were insinuating that the members of this library board were not “good Christians”. He emphatically stated that all of us on the Library Board are “good Christians,” volunteering their time, and the people who are insinuating otherwise should be ashamed!
Questions for Todd McDonald:
During the meeting there were many references to conforming to Iowa Library Association policy (an LGBT promoting group), and there were no references to the Bible or the community values of Orange City. Do you think “good Christian volunteers” should conform to an LGBT promoting group or the Word of God?
What does the term “good Christian” mean? Can “good Christians” promote behaviors that the Bible clearly calls sin?
Last month at the board meeting a man stood up and read this verse: “If anyone causes one of these little ones who believes in me to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” Mark 9:42.
Since you are approving this book as part of the LGBT promoting agenda, why do you think this verse would not apply to you?
Deuteronomy 22:5 says: “A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this.”
Do you think that God will be happy with you when you just voted for a book that promotes this to kindergarteners?
Matthew 7:22-23 says: “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness.’”
Mr. McDonald, what is your definition of a “worker of lawlessness”? God’s law would put all homosexual/transgender promoting books into the sexual immorality category. If you are officially approving these books that oppose God’s law, doesn’t that make you a little nervous? Why should this group you are chastising be ashamed for insinuating that you are not “good Christians” when you are promoting lawlessness?
Do you have any concerns about being among the many “good Christians” calling him Lord, Lord, that Jesus sends away?
Do all the members of Trinity RCA Church agree that you are a “good Christian” pushing this LGBT agenda on the rest of us and our children? We know there are some in your church that oppose this agenda; will you or your pastor admonish them that they should be ashamed?
